: Olympics already boosting Scottish tourism

The London2012 Olympic Games are already having a positive effect on hotels and tourism operators north of the border according to an online travel website.

Summer bookings are up 32 per cent in Scotland as people wanting to watch the games are seeking alternative routes into London and finding it is very expensive to stay in the capital.

Hampden Park in Glasgow will be the venue for five days worth of football matches, although two will be played before the opening ceremony and using Scotland as a base, the Olympic football venues of St James’ Park in Newcastle and Old Trafford in Manchester are within reach by road or rail.
