Although not difficult to make, the villagers start preparing huge quantities of the soup on the morning of the festival by crumbling the bread and lightly frying the vegetables. By noon it is ready to be handed out in traditional bowls to all visitors to the village.
Throughout the day and lasting well into the evening, the festival sees live music and dancing for all to enjoy. The festival of the Seven Stick Soup is the perfect excuse to visit the village of El Burgo.
El Burgo is roughly a 90min drive inland from Club La Costa World’s Costa del Sol resorts and takes in the breathtaking scenery of the Sierra de las Nieves along the way.
