Trenython Manor, one of CLC World’s resorts in Cornwall, is in the running for another award to add to its growing collection. The resort has been shortlisted for the newly introduced RCI RADA Green Award 2011. RCI praised all the entries, saying they demonstrated a strong commitment to minimising environmental impact and to seeking innovative ways to “go green”.
Independent experts will now review the shortlisted resorts in the New Year and the final judging will be carried out by environmental expert Professor Peter Burns. Trenython boasts many eco-friendly and energy saving features and earlier this year introduced a composter to its armoury of green measures.
The composter turns leftover kitchen waste into rich fertiliser and reduces dramatically the amount of waste that has to go to landfill. It and other green measures at Trenython recently got the seal of approval from the Green Tourism Business Scheme, who upgraded the resort from Silver to Gold standard. Trenython Manor is also a recent recipient of the prestigious RCI Gold Crown award.
