: New spa treatments at Hustyns

Club La Costa World’s Hustyns resort in Cornwall has a new massage treatment in the luxury spa, replacing the ‘Hot Stones’ with new ‘Lava Shells’.

New Lava Shell massage available at Hustyns

The lava shells are sourced from the Philippines and are 100 per cent natural tiger clam shells. Providing a source of jobs to locals on the island, they prepare the shells by sand polishing them and gluing them back together.

This provides a smooth tool for massage purposes and a small hole is cut in the top which allows spa technicians to pour in two sachets, one of minerals and absorptive powder and the other an activator. This produces an exothermic reaction that creates heat.

The benefits of a Lava Shell massage include the easing of tension in the muscles, giving relief to painful arthritic joints and help in the removal of toxins from the body.
