: Spain tops for families

Spain has been voted the number one choice for a family friendly holiday destination in a new consumer trends survey conducted by ABTA.

Participants in the survey were asked to name the destination they regarded as the most family friendly and nearly one in five voted in favour of Spain, narrowly beating the UK into second place.

Twenty five per cent of people in the age range of 35-44 years proved to like the country the most and ABTA Chief Executive, Mark Tanzer said: “For many years Spain has been our favourite overseas holiday spot. One of the main reasons for this has been the amazing welcome and facilities that Spain and its people offer to families.”

The UK appealed to a more mature age range with those aged 55+ voting it their most favourable family friendly destination.

Mediterranean destinations were the dominant force in the top ten list, but the USA, with first class hospitality, wonderful theme parks and world famous visitor attractions secured a respectable third place.
