Club La Costa’s beautiful Duchally Country Estate near Gleneagles in Perthshire, has once again received recognition for its excellent catering standards, earning another Silver ‘EatScotland’ Award from the Scottish Tourist Authority, VisitScotland.
The hotel’s superb restaurant ‘Monteaths’ received the accolade for the third year in a row, with the VisitScotland inspector commenting on its “delightful ambience” and “pristine look”.
Of the categories measured in the rigorous annual assessment, the restaurant was considered to have ‘exceeded’ the requirement in 24 out of 35 standards, and had a further 6 ‘outstanding’ scores – 5 more than last year – awarded for ‘freshness of ingredients’ and ‘dessert quality’.
Having selected from the menu a three course meal comprising grilled mackerel fillet with pickled cabbage and apple; baked loin of lamb with garlic and spinach flon, tomato fondue, honey and thyme jus, followed by the ‘outstanding’ Trio of Toffee dessert, the inspector reported that the overall dining experience was one of “extremely good cuisine created from carefully sourced quality ingredients and served by staff that are friendly, diligent, attentive and professional.”
Just back from holiday, Duchally General Manager Graeme MacDonald was especially delighted by the improvement over last year’s performance. “Merely maintaining a high standard is never going to be good enough,” said Graeme. “It’s all about raising the bar every year and five more ‘outstanding’ scores show that we are doing just that. But I want at least another five next year and, who knows, maybe that elusive gold award as well! Seriously, this is all about the team and my sincere thanks go to everyone who has worked so hard at Monteaths in particular, and at Duchally Country Estate in general, these last twelve months.”
