Club La Costa members and guests staying in our Alpine Centre in Austria can take advantage of the many delights that the nearby city of Salzburg has to offer, one of them being the Salzburg Marionette Theatre.
This world famous baroque theatre performs operas, operettas and ballets on a small stage, enchanting audiences time and time again. The auditorium, seating 350 people is well worth seeing in its own right and once you have entered this fascinating world it is soon easy to forget that the characters performing before you are puppets on strings.
Some of the greatest operas of all time have been performed with world class directors and designers regularly returning to work with the Salzburg Marionettes.
A new production of the ‘Sound of Music’ has been added to the theatres repertoire of 160 annual performances alongside classics such as ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’, ‘Hansel and Gretel’, ‘The Magic Flute’ and ‘Die Fledermaus’.
The magical shows produced by the Salzburg Marionettes have been running for over 90 years and are an excellent introduction for children into the world of stage and opera. The Salzburg Marionette Theatre has performed all over the world and regularly tours France, Germany, the USA and Japan among others.
Salzburg is a short drive from Club La Costa’s Alpine Centre and the theatre is an amazing experience to add to your holiday itinerary.
