It’s just as well renowned broadcaster and journalist Jennie Bond’s husband Jim is such a dab hand in the kitchen. While he is busy knocking up her favourite supper dish – a tasty Spanish paella – she’s upstairs in one of the bedrooms at home taking on yet another challenge.
Jennie, the celebrity face of Club La Costa, and a familiar, friendly presence to CLC members whenever she has enjoyed a Club La Costa holiday, will be appearing on a new TV show – and every viewer vote she gets will aid a good cause.
She is taking part in ITV’s Born To Shine, broadcast each Sunday at 8pm. It showcases 15 celebrities keen to learn a new skill in just a few weeks, all mentored by some of the UK’s most gifted young people.
“I am being taught how to play the Marimba and other percussion instruments by a fantastic 14-year-old musician called Tom. An entire bedroom has now been taken over. The Marimba is a seven foot long wooden keyboard, plus there’s a vibraphone, two small drums with cymbals, two huge orchestral timbale and maracas, and I have to learn how to play the lot!” said Jennie.
She will appear live on Sunday August 7th in front of the judging panel of Denise Van Outen and Jason Gardiner, and a surprise celebrity judge. The public vote for the celebrity who has best mastered their new skill, and money raised by the programme is supporting the Save The Children’s campaign “No Child Born to Die”, so every vote counts.
“It’s an important cause and we need to raise as much as we can, so wish me luck!” said Jennie.
