Cornwall – home to two Club La Costa resorts – has been awarded 5 of the 70 Blue Flag 2011 awards given to English beaches, including one for Polzeath beach which lies at the mouth of the Camel Estuary, near Wadebridge, close to Club La Costa’s Hustyns resort.
Blue Flag is a prestigious international award scheme and is an easily recognisable symbol that tells visitors to Club La Costa resorts that a beach or marina they are visiting is among the best in the world for cleanliness and facilities.
Porthmeor, Porthminster, Gyllyngvase and Porthtowan beaches in Cornwall are also on this year’s Blue Flag listing. In total, 3,450 beaches have gained Blue Flag status in 41 countries.
“We have very many lovely beaches in Cornwall, with Polzeath popular with both surfers and swimmers. It’s also part of a great area for walkers as there is National Trust land adjacent with footpaths to the Pentire Point, from where you get amazing views,” says Hustyns’ manager Jamie Alexander.
