Tenerife certainly topped the tourism charts in February this year when a record 332,694 visitors set foot on its sunny shores.
Of all the islands in the Canaries, Tenerife had the most tourists but with a combined total of over 930,000, the archipelago jointly saw the best month’s figures in fifteen years.
Gran Canaria played a close second place to Tenerife’s 19% increase with 289,573 visitors, which was a rise of 18% on 2010.
Such figures suggest that summer could prove equally popular, making Tenerife the place to be this summer season.
The Tenerife Tourism Corporation also intend to boost visitor figures through social media networks where they can promote the island to UK holidaymakers. The Corporation’s Facebook page, launched in January this year accumulated over 1000 fans in fewer than five weeks.
Could it be the winter sun which pulled the crowds in February? Were you one of them? Let us know if you took a holiday in Tenerife in February and what part, if any, social media played in the booking.
